Deleting a search limit
If you are no longer using a specific search limit or need to remove it from the system, you can delete it. Deleting a search limit removes it from any search profile that uses it as an optional search limit, or as an enforced search limit. This means that the deleted search limit will not display in the Searching drop-down list as an optional search limit for a search profile, and search results will no longer be automatically limited for all searches by the selected search profile.

When you delete a search limit from a profile, you must re-index your data and refresh the Discovery administrator database metadata cache in the Discovery server application. For more information, see Refreshing the search cache. |
If you delete a search limit that has been set as the default optional search limit for one or more search profiles, those search profiles will no longer have an optional search limit highlighted by default in the Search drop-down list in Searching.
If you delete a search limit while another administrative user is editing that search limit, the software displays a message to the other administrative user indicating that the search limit has been updated or deleted by another user, and preventing them from saving any changes that they may have made to the search limit.
If you remove a search limit from a profile while a patron is using that search limit to limit the search results, the next time that the Searching interface is refreshed, the search limit will not display in the Searching drop-down menu, or the patron’s search results will display without the search limit being automatically applied to them.
